About Us - Our Personal Journey
Dear Extended Living Family,
We know that from time-to-time everyone has anxieties and upsets that they can usually overcome easily. But there's one that causes more stress and more pain than almost any other, and that's when a parent’s health weakens to the point where full time help or monitoring is needed. We all know aging issues are on the rise. But it is only when aging affects a loved one does it really hit home. When it is our own parent or loved one who needs care and support, it is very distressing to both us and our loved ones. We have experienced this firsthand.
This is where our own family’s personal journey begins
We began researching licensed adult foster care and assisted living homes in our surrounding area. We were looking for upscale services that would cater to all of our grandparents’ needs along with the extras that would improve the quality and comfort of their lives. We wanted someone to care for them and to stimulate their minds so that they were happy and living in peace. We were greatly disappointed.
As we visited various living options we were astonished at the minimal level of care and compassion the current clientele received! We found large corporate owners, untrustworthy personal care, mediocre food and small stuffy rooms where our grandparents wouldn’t even be able to stay together. Only a few of the facilities came close to having the luxury and “home like” feel for which we were looking. We became so frustrated! It was at that time that we decided, as a family, to take this opportunity to resolve this problem ourselves. We said we would never want others to go through the pain and anguish that we had gone through. So we, along with a group of dedicated Michigan investors, purchased a large building and created an assisted living residence in West Michigan that would meet our high standards. We worked together to renovate this building into the ultimate living residences based on the principals of Compassion, Dignity, & Respect. These founding principals are the cornerstone of the commitment we make to each and every one of our residents. We call the property “CreekView Lodges.”
Our philosophy is not based on the premise that “bigger is better”. Each resident lodge is licensed for twenty residents, which we felt was large enough to be cost effective and provide our residents with superior service options and yet small enough to provide that warm, welcoming feeling that is “home”.
Each of the two residences has approximately 26,000 square feet of stately private suites. We boast two cozy dining rooms, alfresco front room with a fireplace, a great room for activities such as card playing, exercise and intimate conversations. Our inviting patio surrounded by greenery is perfect for the avid gardener to plant and prune ‘til their hearts content. If relaxation is on the agenda, then enjoying nature while being catered to is the answer.
To successfully execute our vision we needed to hire the most qualified staff who shared in our values of compassion, customer service, and providing the best quality in all of our services. To that end, we hired a top notch Chef whose accomplishments include owning her own catering company. Her menu will tempt even the most finicky pallet with simple to complex dishes and the aromas will keep you close by just to see what she’s preparing. Residents will become accustomed to mouth-watering meals everyday!
Next we hired an Administrator who has an extensive nursing background as well as years of experience in elderly care. She has dedicated her life to improving the quality of life for seniors. She also comes with knowledge of the rules and regulations that keep our residents safe and well cared for.
Finally, we have brought together a complete healthcare staff that is on the cutting edge of current training standards to the medical needs of our residents to keep them aging in place and provide continuity of care. We want CreekView Lodges to be our residents’ forever home.
For the last several years my spouse and I along with our parents have struggled with the decisions regarding our grandparent’s future care. We conducted an extensive search into what we could expect, health wise, as our grandparents aged, but there was absolutely no solid information available that made us feel good about what was to come. We did know that our grandparents were at a point in which they needed some assistance with daily chores, errands and some personal care. We knew that this need would only increase as they aged. After months of agonizing over the options, it was decided that assisted living was the best choice for our grandparents’ current and future needs.Respite Care
In addition to all of the all-inclusive services offered our residents, we wanted to provide caregivers a much needed break. Caregivers can just come in to CreekView Lodge and arrange for their loved one(s) to stay with us for a few days (and/or evenings/weeks) so the caregivers can take the time they need to get their lives organized without worrying about what kind of care their loved one is receiving. In fact, they’ll enjoy themselves so much that the hard part will be in getting our "visitors" to return home!!
Planning Our Future Growth
We are continually moving forward with plans to renovate the remainder of the property and add an independent living neighborhood on the property. We strive to meet all of the needs of seniors regardless of their level of independence.
